Application Information

                                                       Please read: NEW FOR 2025 - 2026

**Letter of Inquiry deadline March 16th 2026**

(We advise you to refresh this page for the most up to date information.)

The Thompson Charitable Foundation (TCF) holds only one grant-making meeting a year.  The date for 2026 has not been set.  Most likely we will meet between the end of June to the middle of July.

Applications for funding are by invitation only.  We will give preference to applicants who have already been funded by TCF.  Being a past or present TCF grantee is no guarantee that your organization will be invited or funded.

To be invited to apply, you must submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) by March 16th, 2026. Until we have the LOI process active on our application portal, you may email your LOI to jeff@thompsoncharitable.org. The subject line of your LOI email must include the following: LOI (your organization name).

The LOI must include:

  • Are you a past or current TCF grantee?  If so, when were you funded, for how much, for what purpose, and are you up-to-date with your grant reports?
  • We are geographically restricted based on our charter.  Which of the ten counties we serve in three states will benefit directly from the request? Please see our grantmaking guidelines listed on this website.
  • How will residents of said counties benefit?
  • What amount of grant funding will you request if invited?
  • How will our funding make a difference to the people and communities you plan to serve?
  • How well-suited is your organization to successfully implement the program?
  • LOI’s should not be more than one page, written in not less than 11 font.

Our on-line application portal will only be open for invited applicants. If you are invited to apply, you will be emailed a link to our application portal. The portal will be open from April 1st to April 30th. You may not know the status of your request until late July.

In certain cases, we can consider a proposal outside of our mid-Summer meeting.  It is entirely at the Foundation’s discretion if we consider an application outside of the new funding cycle.

We may consider an emergency request outside of our annual review cycle.  Examples of emergencies we might consider include natural or manmade disasters, need for matching funds for a state or federal grant, or an unexpected loss of funding from other sources. Note in this last example, we will not be able to fund ongoing replacement of any such lost funding.

Please contact us at jeff@thompsoncharitable.org should you require consideration of an out of cycle request.
